The RYA Day Skipper Theory Course is the first component for a Day Skippers Qualification. It is a comprehensive introduction to seamanship for competent crew to start making decision on board.

Course Description
Nautical Terms, ropework, anchorwork, safety, international regulations for preventing collisions at sea, definition of position, corse and speed, navigational charts and publications, navigational drawing instruments, compas, chartwork and navigation, tides snd tidal streams, visual aids to navigation.

- RYA Day Skipper Shorebased Course Completion Certificate
- Classes at V& A Waterfront, Cape Town
Assumed prior knowledge: Candidates should have previous sailing experience (Competent Crew).
Ability after course: Theory knowledge to skipper a small yacht in familiar waters by day.
